MOTTO: “The Environment is the Home of Life”

Dear Sir/Madam,
LETTER FOR PARTNERSHIP.

On behalf of my organisation, I apply for partnership with your office. At the moment, we intervene in environmental protection and management.
Below are some of our objectives which will give a clear insight of our organisations main activities
 To replant (Forestation) trees and grasses on abandoned lands (typically neglected because of the environmental degradation that has taken place long ago.) Multipurpose trees (NFT and other economic trees like cashew nuts, jatropha etc.) which can hold soil particles to protect the land from erosions (Wind and Water).
 To train community youths (including war women) and organize them in to peer educator groups in order to undertake massive tree planting exercise in their various communities and also educate the masses on the importance of environmental protection to reduce environmental health risks.
 To raise awareness and work with rural farmers to go into inland valley swamp cultivation as an alternative to upland farming in a bid to reduce deforestation and global warming.
 Sensitize communities on dangers of HIV/AIDS/STDI and gender related issues. It is widely understood that women, in their productive and reproductive roles, have closed links with the environment in Sierra Leone and that they are often among the first to be affected by environmental degradation.

 To adapt a new approach for urban waste management and environmental protection in order to create a new dimension by decentralization by engaging youths in garbage collection and processing into organic fertilizers and selling it to farmers in general instead of dumping into seas and rivers which causes water and sea pollutions that lead to water born diseases like diarrhea, cholera etc.
Friends Of The Environment and Culture, Sierra Leone (F.O.T.E.C/SL) is a national Non- Governmental Organisation formed in 2009, registered with lined Ministries and with the Sierra Leone Association of Non- Governmental Organisations (S.L.A.N.G.O.) and we are working with the Sierra Leone National Environmental Protection Agency (SLEPA).
We have already established Jatropha (Plants good for biofuel) nursery sites in some parts of the country for distribution to farmers in rural communities. Other valuable tree crops like cashew nuts and Moringa trees (The magic tree) are also included in the project.
In this regard, we are now requesting to be in partnership with your organization since we too are engaged in sustainable environmental protection and management in affected communities. We are prepared to supply more information you may require to know about FOTEC/SL activities.

Sincerely

Birrow Bangura
Executive Director
